Needy Family Project

LCGTM has been promoting compassion and empathy through our Needy Family Project to assist needy families. Our signature project, since 2008, has witnessed the challenges these families face, and they have embraced our generosity as a means of self-help. 

oN 21/9/2024, LCGTM Lion CY  delivered food supplies and groceries to the needy family of Mdm Gan.

Leo Club of GT Mutiara Omega and Leo Club of Sacred Heart Alpha participated in the Region 1 & 2 Joint Installation and Initiating Ceremony at Prince of Wales Island International School (Balik Pulau), Auditorium on 21/9/2024. 

Sponsoring Lions Club President Derry Tan, Leo Advisors PP Lily Teoh, Lion Lucia Teoh, and other Lions including PCC Allan Cheah who was the G.O.H., PDG Dato' Khoo Kay Huat, and PP Emery Cheah attended. 

LCGTM Continues to Help Restoring Sight for Those in Need.

Puan Bedah told the LCGTM that she placed great importance on her eyesight because she lost her right sight. Now her left eye is affected by severe cataracts. 

Her husband, a rubber tapper, can no longer work due to his old age. With no income, the couple resides with their son, who lives in a rented three-room flat with his own family of two. 

The LCGTM Lions interviewed Puan Bedah and subsequently recommended her application to LifeRenew for financial assistance, which was granted. Surgery was carried out on 22/9/2024.

As a result, Puan Bedah has regained her clear vision, thanks to the support from LifeRenew and Pantai Hospital Penang.

11/9/2024 - Hunger Relief Project

September 11 was another exciting day for some Residents of Padang Tembak when LCGTM carried out the Hunger Relief project at the Dewan MPKK Padang Tembak. Starting at 4:30 pm, the elderlies enthusiastically, on their own, started the lively light aerobic exercise and the Lions continued to lead them. There was an atmosphere of fun. 

After the session, OC PP Samantha, IPP Joyce Cheah and CP Danny Lim were in full gear distributing 70 over meal boxes and buns.

3/9/2024 Needy Family Project: 

Mdm Tan is among the families in need that LCGTM is supporting. The club supplies food provisions and groceries on a monthly basis. The club has engaged Leos of our sponsored Leo Club to carry out the project. Today, Leo Cecilia purchased essential food items and presented them to Mdm Tan and her family.

3/9/2024 Needy Family Project: 

Mr. Munusamy is one of the families in need that LCGTM is supporting. The club supplies food provisions and groceries every month. Besides Munusamy who is handicapped, his wife is also suffering the same fate and has to go to dialysis regularly. Today, OC, PP Lily purchased essential food items to present them. 

1/9/2024 - CLUB INSTALLATION CEREMONY

LC George Town Mutiara carried out its 37th Installation of the President and Board of Directors at the Jade Palace Restaurant, with a high tea with Dim Sum. The venue offered an affordable and enjoyable beachside atmosphere. 

We extend our gratitude to 2nd VDG David Seow Chee Hoe for conducting the installation ceremony and a big 'thank you' to all the Lions who participated.

31/8/2024 - Needy Family Project : Mdm Tan

Mdm Tan, a victim of colon cancer, has endured her illness for four years after she lost her job as a general helper in a restaurant. 

She told PP Lily Teoh that the social welfare aid she received was inadequate, as she needed nutritious food to combat her cancer. 

LCGTM has been supplying her family with groceries and monthly household necessities for the past two years.

30/8/2024 - A total knee replacement for Inche Ahmad Tarmeze:

LC George Town Mutiara received an appeal from Mr. Ahmad Tarmeze. He lost his job as a security guard as he could not work. 

He complained to the club of persistent knee pain in his left leg. He could not sleep at all and disrupted his daily activities. He was on painkillers but the pain problem persisted.

LCGTM reached out to Pantai Hospital Penang and Life Renew to assist the applicant with the knee operation. His application was approved within a fortnight. 

He had a total knee replacement operated by Dr. Boon on 27/8/2024. The Lions visited the patient on 30/8/2024 before he was discharged. He was grateful to the Lions for highlighting his plight.
