Mdm Lee Overcomes Adversity: No Longer Needs a Wheelchair.

Mdm Lee, a widow, is on the verge of no longer needing her wheelchair. She previously experienced significant knee stiffness and endured considerable pain whenever she attempted to move her legs. Her late husband was a fisherman, and her son has been instrumental in assisting her with daily tasks. They reside in a government-owned semi-permanent cluster house in Balik Pulau. The Lions from George Town Mutiara became aware of her situation and provided support that has transformed her life. She had both her knees replaced. The operation was done at Pantai Hospital Penang by Orthopedic Specialist Dr. Boon.
Mdm Lee was happy when President Derry Tan assured her to take things slowly and that she would experience a swift recovery.

Another TKR project - Making Mdm Wong's dream come true.

LC George Town Mutiara has gained recognition for helping numerous individuals facing medical challenges. Recently, the club received a request for medical aid from Mdm Wong, who was unable to walk. Upon investigation, we found that she was experiencing financial hardships. Mdm Wong is single and unemployed.
The Pantai Hospital Penang had verified that she had knee issue and required both knee replacements. Should she regain her ability to walk, she aspires to become a hawker to cover her daily living expenses. LCGTM has made her wish come true.

A donation box has been placed at Pantai Hospital Penang to collect funds for medical assistance, with the incentive of receiving a soft toy in return for contributions. Numerous generous donors have participated in our Medical Fund offering preloved soft toys.
We are pleased to see that this project underscores the remarkable strength of community spirit and demonstrates that many individuals still selflessly contribute to support a worthy cause. Lions Club of GTM is grateful and say a
big 'Thank you' to them.

She was filled with joy upon learning that our application to Life Renewed for her cataract treatment had been approved. Today, she successfully underwent cataract surgery at Pantai Hospital Penang, thanks to the expertise of eye specialist Dr. Tan J.P. who performed the procedure.
