LC George Town Mutiara is proud to share the successful completion of another cataract surgery within a week—marking yet another meaningful step in restoring sight and improving lives in our community.

Today’s beneficiary, Mdm Poon (76 yo), underwent surgery on her second eye. Living alone on a hillside, she faces multiple challenges as she has restricted movement, limited income, and hearing impairment. Despite her difficulties, she continues to support herself modestly by selling plants gathered from her surroundings at the Sunday market.

Recognizing her situation, LCGTM conducted a careful assessment and found her genuinely deserving of assistance under our cataract programme. With timely support, she received the treatment needed to restore her vision. Thanks to eye specialist Dr. Ho and Pantai Hospital Penang, the procedure was a great success. Lions visited Mdm Poon before her discharge.

This marks the second cataract surgery supported by LCGTM within a week, reflecting the club’s ongoing dedication to reaching out to those most in need. Through such efforts, we continue to bring light, hope, and dignity back into the lives of the underserved.

Mdm Therasa, aged 70, had been struggling with blurred vision due to cataracts. Her left eye was successfully operated three months ago in January with the support of the Lions.

Today, she underwent her second surgery for her right eye. With both procedures completed, her vision has been restored to normal.

She shared that she never expected such kindness from the Lions Club of George Town Mutiara and expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Pantai Hospital Penang for its excellent care and services.
